I think Im missing a few bearings......here is the previous post http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=539095 so I don't repeat myself.....this is the lower bearing. at least whats left of it. the bearings that remained in the pack were showing signs of rust.

1. Cause? (cause that not a generic question right?)
2. where do i go from here? (the metal paste looks like it is confined to the lower bearing area. but there is an awfully large amount of wear to the crank and case as seen in the pictures)

Really good chance that the crankshaft is bent after being able to wobble around that much.

Looks like you lost the cage of the baring. That got eaten up and probably jammed the bearing. The bearing is also a bit brownish, so there must have been some corrosion there before. There must have been some water sitting in there. Probably that is what started the whole destruction process.
You need to check out all the remaining components if there are any deformations in them.

Good luck, Peter

that crank is done. the motor is probably a gonner as well. my oil pump quit last year and my crank looked like that, nothing was worth even a core fee

Read your other post and IMHO the power head is toast.

Did you check for water in the oil tank? If there is water in that tank and the engine was stored for a time (perhaps over the winter) the insides of the block will turn to rust.
