Finally after all these years the wooden floor on my dinghy has fallen apart. I called Achilles and they wanted $350 for new boards and plastic slats. I ened up cutting new boards and my question is... What should i put on them to seal them from water ? The West System is too expensive..Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ...

Thanks,

Keith

Re: 1986 Achilles Dinghy Floor Restoration

Welcome to iboats!

Post a few photos. $350  Want to seal up a few boards.... standard fiberglass resin available at walmart or any auto parts store will work. You can get away with a thinner sheet of plywood (exterior grade) sealed with fiberglass resin and a covering of fiberglass cloth on one side.

If you want a non slip... there are things you can add to make it non-slip but do not just add sand. You would create a deck board that will shred anything that comes in contact with it.

I bet you can accomplish everything for half the money or less.
