1986 bass buggy

im new here so be patient
i have a 1986 bass buggy pontoon boat, i was wondering if anyone knows if there are baffles or is that one whole pontoon. i have water in one pontoon and wondering if i could drill and tap a drain plug in the back of the pontoon?
or is there two seperate compartments? thank you in advance any help would be appreciated

they should all ready have a drain, the tilt the bow as high as you can get it.
then rig, a fitting to the drain hole, so you can pressurize the toon, to about 5 psi, that really soapy water and go over toon to find leak. some have support bulkheads but are a single cell.

My guess is there is a baffel don't know if it is a bulkhead or simply a support
allowing water to flow.
There may be a access hole at the top of the log you could service it through.
You'll need to determine where the water gets in.
You can charge it with very low airpressure 1 or 2 psi. see if you can find a crack or hole perhaps soap solution sprayed on the outside.
If there is a leak near the bottom you may be able to push the water out there with the air pressure.

there are no drain holes on the logs ,but there are fittings on the top of each log,i believe they are in the center.i dont think the leak is anywhere on the bottom, because i never seen any water leaking out.the boat sat and rotted for may years and there was no caps over the fittings.i ran the boat for two summers now, and i dont believe any added water has occurred but not sure.but still not sure the best way of getting the water out, to see if water is still getting in. is it possible to siphon the water out? any suggestion would be great

sure you can siphon out if you can get it all in one place. it also could be condensation over the years. you really should get some experienced in aluminim welding to put drains the the stern of both toons.

This is what I did with my first old toon that had no drain holes. I drilled a half inch hole in the bottom rear of each log and used 1/2" bailer plugs in the hole. Easy to install and easy to pull out to check for water. Of course welding a threaded adapter on for a drain plug would be ideal, but this can be done at home and it works perfect...

you can up load to a free service like photobucket.com then you choose the pictures you want( clik the little box at the bottom left of the picture) scrool to the bottom of the page, clik generate html, it will take you to the next page, scroll down to thumb nails clik on that and copy, then insert it into your post.

also if you are planing on posting pictures, you can use the Blue post reply or the go advanced, manage attachments, there you can upload , directly from your computer. besure you pictures have been resized to fit the format. 640x480 max.

You can get them at Walmart, West Marine, Bass Pro, Etc. and most bait/supply shops. They come in various sizes from about 3/8"-1". They look like this:

You just insert it in the hole, turn the handle and snap it shut for a watertight seal...

milkman, welcome to iboats.
Use the bailer plug type.
Easy to do.
Just make sure you have a tight fit and it will not leak.
I would say your bassbuggy is solid toons.
Maybe a baffle inside, but for structure support and it will let any water flow to the rear.
