Re: 1986 Bayliner 1800BR questions

Dave:
The answer is yes on the information. If no one
else gets it for you before I get back. I will
look it up this weekend or find where you can.
One thing to check for on 1986 models is the two
vertical braces that go from the transom and are
glassed into the stringers on the floor. They
(Bayliner) forgot to add them on some boats. But
are easy to add. And the numbers of boats without
them is very small.

Link

Re: 1986 Bayliner 1800BR questions

That would be greatly appreciated, I checked the re-enforcments, they are there, Thanks. One other question for you. What hp motor do you have and what speed do you reach, if you had the chance would you do more or less horsepower? I bought the boat as a beater for fishing and kid rides, oh ya, and to get away from the kids, interior is in bad shape but, who cares besides the wife, maybe it will keep her out:)
Any info greatly appreciated

Re: 1986 Bayliner 1800BR questions

Well I found out max. HP of 125, Still hoping for answers on max.load capacity and shaft length. The motor on it has a 20 shaft but it does not look right or measure up right to me. Anyone that could let me know on the shaft length would be really helpful. I don't want to buy another motor with the wrong shaft length.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Re: 1986 Bayliner 1800BR questions

I guess I understand the cavataion plate and keel locations, the problem is I think it should be a 25in shaft and it has a 20". I purchased the boat with a seized engine(merc 115) and dont think it is worth rebuilding.
PS anyone looking for parts?? 1981-1984 not possitive on year
Thanks
Dave

Re: 1986 Bayliner 1800BR questions

Bolt,

From 1984-1986 bayliner made three model types of boats. They were capri which is a ski/riding style, Trophy which is a center console style, and Cobra. The models capri and cobra were either cuddy type or bowrider. Unfortunately, I have a Trophy 1910, but they all came standard with either a force 85 or force 125 horsepower. It was a package deal. My book on the force motors that came with my boat says that the 125 force is rated for a transom height of 20"/25". The load on my boat, Trophy 1910 is 5 persons or 700lbs. Anyway, the transom height is either 20" or 25" depending on that model. I hope this helps.

Thanks, that sounds about right (20/25). I just went out and was looking at it again, and it is a tough call, neither size is looks to be best.
Thanks again
Dave

Just Measure from the top of the motorwell(motor mounting location) to the keel line.... It'll either be 20", or 25".... It Can't be both.....

Re: 1986 Bayliner 1800BR questions

I understand that part of it but,,, maybe I should give up, nah that too easy, the measurement is about 23.5/24" if measured parrallel to boat, if measured perpendicular to keel it is about 22/23". Like I said the motor is not an origonal but it has a 20" shaft. I hate to go wrong and get a new motor with wrong shaft. Just hoping someone actually has the spec. for this boat or has this boat and can tell me what they have. This boat also has that "step back" on the bottom keel which I dont know if makes up the difference of 20/25" shaft. If I added 5 " to the 20" I have it looks to deep. Who knows,,, That will teach for buying a Bayliner, the blue's are already starting:)And I havent even got it out of the yard yet!

Thanks Again,
Dave
