Well, just minor progress. I'm really trying to wind this project down (for the summer) and get the boat wet! Sealing it up with resin, and getting everything ready to be permanently mounted.

Just sealing up some screw holes with resin. (Hope I don't need to take it apart!)

I was not going to carpet this year, but...Menards has a great deal on Indoor/Outdoor carpet. 6X8 foot sections for $10.00.

I couldn't find a light blue that matched, but the dark blue should pick up the dark blue stripes in the seats and bring it all together. Did I mention it was cheap?

I *believe* that is the very last time I'll take that seat apart.

I suppose I could have covered the entire back, but that won't be visible from the rear, only when you open the sundeck, so I figured why...

And onto the sundeck...I know it will be covered with upholstery by next spring, but the carpet adds a nice touch for this summer at least...

The sundeck large section. I ran out of glue so I couldn't finish it tonight...it can dry until tomorrow.

Finished getting the sundeck installed, along with some 'clean up' stuff to pretty up the installation:

I ended up 'capping' the ends of the sundeck to clean up the sides. Otherwise you could see under the sundeck.

I think the caps look pretty good.

I also covered some wood on the inside. This won't be visible, so I used some scrap pieces.

Still working on the ski locker...one final piece, then I have some final fit work to do...then seal, sand and Duraback.

I realized tonight that I do have some final work to do on the hull repairs...not too bad, but I probably need 1 more week of work to be finally done.

Working on the ski locker installation.

Obviously, I need to purchase and redo the metal supports, but...for now, I'm going with it like this for this summer.

SO...here's the progress so far. It fits, its stronger then the original and by widening it out towards the fiberglass stringers, the floor doesn't give any more. Its nice and solid, like it should be.

My only question is, how bad would it look if I carpeted just this piece? (Probably, pretty bad huh?)

I noticed that the sundeck had a little more 'give' than I liked. Its a pretty decent span to support a not so light guy, so I added some cross braces today. They are attached to the sundeck, so they'll be up and out of the way when I open it up.

And...the entire rear bench & sundeck are done! Finished! Whoo Hoo!!!

Ski locker is sealed in resin, so...I have a couple carpet trim pieces left, and my final Durabak coats to do, and a couple really minor nicks to touch up on the hull then...I'm done.

Well...ok, I have to wash the boat down, polish it up, etc...but that's not 'project' work, so I'm just pretending that doesn't count.

Well, I pushed through, and I'm done for this year! I have some upholstery work to do next winter, but I'm over the finish line, plus a little more. I didn't expect to get the carpeting done, so that's a bonus.

Durabak on the ski locker cover:

Yeah, don't look at next years project...BUT...the window, after tightening down everything that was loose on the windows...the walkthrough still wouldn't close.

So I ended up adjusting the support brackets and for the first time since I've owned it...the walkthrough window now closes properly.

On a test outing a discovered that I did have a slow leak. I found two small 'nail' sized holes in the stern right at the back that I'm thinking were the culprits. They're patched and that seems to have done the trick!

Well, the new Piranha Prop just arrived and is installed and ready to go!

Now...its off to N. MN to put all this hard work to use (and enjoy). Can't wait.

I won't be updating for a while...I'll be boating!

We're back!

I'm pleased to report we had a very successful week on the lake!


Believe it or not, its 10 ft deep at the stern, and about 8 ft at the bow in this shot. I love how clear this lake is.

A Loon with 2 chicks is a very welcome sight! We didn't harass them...zoom lens!

They can sure sound the alarm when the Bald Eagles would fly overhead.

Just thought the lake looked cool! This was on the 1 bad day we had weather wise.

I wanted a 'fly-by' video just to see how it looks from the shore...I don't have a digital camcorder, so we used our digital camera on 'video' option, which doesn't have a zoom...but, here it is:

Oh, and, with the Piranha prop, I have to say, it jumps up on plane! (You'll notice my daughter trying to 'save' her stuffed animal 'Bob' the Kuala bear in the seats. I love that!) I forgot to lock the ladder in, so it slid out (Does anyone else's not stay in place?), and also the telltale in action again.

I was able to hold my hand under the telltale water for as long as I wanted, and I could also hold my hand on the head & block for as long as I wanted, it was never too hot to touch, ever. I will say though, that for this lake, 'Warm' means 76-77 degree water temps. I've never seen it warmer than that, so the outboard should cool really well.
