hello to anyone up at this hour. I am trying to reinstall my lower unit. After taking *** to the shop and hem telling me I need a water pump impeller ($600), I decided to try it my self. I have the lower unit off, new water pump impeller installed, but I can not et the shift linkage to line up. Any thoughts? Help??!!

Yes good choice, a new impellers only $30 or so and itd be less an hours work as you can see if experienced.

Is that the two cylinder or three cylinder model?
Its only 430 pm here so il be up for a while, i aint a nana

Are you sure its the shift shaft thats not lined up? Have you tried moving the flywheel a touch that will line the splines up and it will slide in?

Check your shift shaft is pointing forward and not getting caught on the side of the hole
