1986 Evinrude 110 Woodruff Key

I am changing the water pump on a 1986 E110TLCDF. I got the lower unit off fine. Got the old water pump off fine. My question concerns the woodruff key that holds the impeller. I bought a sierra water pump kit that included part 18-3059. This impeller does not have the same kind of slot that the old one had. It came with two plastic wedges. Do I need to just throw the impeller out and buy an actual OEM part or will this work on my motor?

Yup.

There are generally 2 different styles of impeller drive. The key drive and the eccentric wedge drive. The 2 are not interchangeable. You must get the correct one for your motor.

BTW, if you get the part from a BRP dealer, you will get the right thing!

Apparently the gearcase has been changed out at some point according to the parts guy at the dealer. The impeller that he gave me was the same as the one that I bought. I just need to figure out how to find the correct part.
