Disconnected the oil side long ago and rebuilt carbs last year. Would not idle before carb rebuild and won't after carb rebuild. Motor runs fine in all speeds except idle. I have to keep hitting the choke button to keep it idling. My question is, can a vro not pump enough gas at idle speed to keep motor running? Would it be wise to switch to a regular stock fuel pump and get rid of the vro completely? Is there any way to check fuel flow or pressure at idle speed on a vro?

Was going to do another decarb but don't really think that is going to change anything.

Thanks

Try pumping the primer bulb at idle and see what happens. This will by-pass the vro. If that doesn't do it , you may still have carb idle circuit probs.

Suspect the pump only if you can keep it running with the primer ball.

Not necessary if the pump is good.

Yes, just connect a fuel pressure gauge to the outlet of the pump and test pressure at idle. You should see pulsations which keep the average pressure above 2 psi or so...
Be sure the float level is correct and you replaced the center bowl gasket with new. Don't forget, the idle speed is set by ignition timing...

How would I go about doing the setting the timing? Is this part of a link & sync?
