Just got a 86 seahorse 4hp.
After finding out what the controls do how can i adjust the idle timing ?
Anyone got a link to a Link & Sync for these motors ?
Moving the Throttle control is what adjusts the Timing, which controls the Idle speed. On these engines there is usually a scribe line on the Throttle Cam which is the point where the Cam Follower(roller) is to make contact. On some engines the roller is adjusted, on others, the Cam on the Timing Plate is adjusted.
Thanks Jim I can get the throttle turned all the way down but the tick over is still pretty high.
There is a threaded tube " that I think adjusts the timing " Should i try from there ?

Is this engine a deluxe model? That is one with reverse gear and a twist grip throttle.
Post the model number .... That will identify your engine
If it is the deluxe version , yes, the adjustment you describe will adjust the idle speed but are you aware that the stop button on the tiller end is also the idle speed adjustment knob ?
Always post the model number when asking questions and quote it when ordering spares.
