I recently traded for 1986 monark mcfast with mercruiser 170 (closed coolant system) with alpha one outdrive. He told me that it was rebuilt summer '08 and used the rest of the summer. Winterized nov. '08 and been sitting up eversince. Had it a couple of weeks before I had time to get it on the water, and I noticed that it had no water. I put in 2 gallons 50/50 coolant, and found that it was leaking out of the side fins and weep hole on the bottom of the outdrive (no leaking noted in the engine compartment). Without having to tear in to deep is there a way to find out if there was something not retightened after winterization, bad seal somewhere, or (gasp) a crack somewhere? Thanks for any input you may have.

Are the two plugs in the aft bottom of the heat exchanger?

yes, the 2 plugs are in place. removed exchanger and end caps. no obvious holes noted, have not had a chance to have pressure test yet.
