1986 Mercury 75 HP Wires form stator to rectifier question

Does it matter which wires land on the rectifier both wires are the same color(yellow) and the ones off the old stator were the same color there is no trace color on the old or new? Thanks for the help

All that matters is that the red wire is on the + terminal. The yellow wires can go to either of the other terminals and aren't marked with a tracer. If you have a tach, the gray wire goes to one of the terminals with one of the yellows.
