if the ignition system is capable of jumping a Spark 3/8" I would be very hard pressed to say the Coils are bad. However, if the wires have a weak spot in the insulation, there as possibility that the wires when relocated as they are when connected to the installed plugs, are able to arc to ground. I know it is a slim chance, but I have seen difficult to trace voltage bleeds in the past. Dirt on the plug ceramic insulators can create an electrical path to ground. Electricity has only one thing on its mind, complete the circuit to ground, and it doesn't care how it gets there

After reading over these posts I realized that didn't explain myself very well and I'm sorry. my problem originated when I lost compression and couldn't even pull start at all so what I did was, took the powerhead apart, went thru it checking reeds, bearings and such. The problem I believe was that I had seized piston rings with all kinds of crud on them so I cleaned them all up. After searching for a while I was able to find only 2 rings for this motor so I deglazed the cylinders and put back together with new rings on the best piston( not sure if that's allowed or not). After everything was put back together I have compression back, just under 100 psi but she won't start. I'm wondering now if maybe my timing is out but because I couldn't find a manual for this engine I'm not sure how to adjust it. this 110 is breaker less ignition. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Did you line up the pin and get reed block in the correct position?----What sealer did you use when assembling the block?

I sealed it with motoseal by Pernetex I believe it’s called and the reeds are in center bearing of crank, seemed to go in right.

Can you explain as to what pin you’re talking about?

There is a wee pin in the block,----A hole in the reed block.----The little pin MUST go in that hole!----The sealer to be used is something like Loctite 518.-----Low filler content and most of the sealer squeezes out to get a metal to metal joint.-----If the sealer is too thick , the bearings will be loose and reed block will be loose.

I did put a very thin coat on. And if this pin wasn’t lined up correctly, no hope of running then?

The pin may have fallen out on your workshop floor.----For me it would be ----" DARN I have to take it apart again "----I have taken failed motors apart and measured the film of sealer to be 0.008" and it should be 0.001" or less.

would you happen to know where I could find more piston rings for this motor? Parts people I have contacted say they are no longer available. Also, what is the purpose of that pin and would it make it not start?
