Adjust catalyst level 0.07
for each degree from 77?f.
If cooler than 77?f, add 0.07 up to a catalyst level of 3.0%.
Example#1: Temperature of gel coat is 70?f.
7 x 0.07 = 0.49 + 1.8% = 2.3%
if warmer than 77?f, subtract 0.07 down to
a minimum catalyst level of 1.2%.
Example #2: Temperature of gel coat is 85?f.
8 x (-0.07) = (-0.56) + 1.8% = 1.24%

Good stuff RVR!
Thank you!

Rovin over CSM.

I'll post resined rovin pictures later. Rovin, much like CSM, doesn't like to go around hard corners. I ended up with some air bubbles over the transom. Do I need to grind them out?

I grinded the airbubbles and filled with a little resin. I think me and you are about the same spot.

How many layers of CSM do I need to use on the stringers? I'm using 1.5oz.

Finally making some progress. Got the front section of the hull foamed and deck screwed. I used Bob's method of lining the cavity with plastic and then covering the cavity with a piece of plastic wrapped plywood. This worked well. I screwed the deck down with 3" stainless screws. I started out with 2", but they didn't have enough bite. I didn't have any problems with the screws tearing out in the end grain of the stringers. The foam kit I got was nice. It came with a mixing paddle, gloves and a paint stick.

Gotta catch up with you! Should start going pretty fast not. Nice to work in cooler weather. I started pouring foam early yesterday morning when it was pretty cool and expansion was slow. Later when it was warmer, expansion was much faster.

Deck is in! Just need to glass and then I should be ready to re-cap! For the stern section of deck, I used the hole pour method. I didn't like putting holes in my deck, but the first channel I did, I poured the foam and hoped it would run all the way back, it didn't. So I had to bore holes.

I'm happy over here that you are still making progress! The work looks great so far. Your stringer system looks close to what I have. I will be re-visiting this post again and again as I do mine.

I'm stuck with cutting the floor. Not sure if it's one piece or not. I want to make sure I get this right because it looks that I will only have to do the starboard side.

Do you have any more pictures of the early process of removing the floor?

I don't remember if it was one piece, but there wasn't much of the center for me to cut, and most of what was left had de-laminated. I think all of my pictures are on here, if not I have a photobucket account, I think it is JAFO1 as well.

I had better results with the pour and hold down method, but I too got impatient. Actually, I got tired of thinking about it and just started pouring and then figured out what to do next. I think I'll be okay. A buddy at work wants to give me a Ranger, so I need to hurry up with this Skeeter.

I got off track for a while. Weather was nice yesterday, so I got all of my deck glassed. Almost ready to get the top cap back on. It's raining today, will have pictures later.

Sorry, no new pictures. Just been wrestling with the wiring. Trying to decide if I should rewire, or go with what's already there. The existing wire is in okay shape. And, I have a new steering cable to install, and then I should be ready to reinstall the deck cap.

What do you all suggest for drain plug tube? The original was aluminium, but my local supply house only has brass. Also, the brass tube is cut to fit. How much lip should I leave to keep the tube from splitting when I flair the tube? And one last thing, 5200 or 4200 to seal all the new through hull fittings?

Re: 1986 Skeeter Starfire 90 Resto.

Update. I would post pictures, but Photobucket is down. Deck cap is back on. And it fits, ALMOST! I improved my transom a bit too much as it is a little too tall. I am going to have to sand/cut about .5 inch off the transom, as it is keeping the deck cap from sitting flush. On the drain tube, .25" was a little too much as the flare split just a bit, but not too much to worry about. My grand ideas of a new paint job gave way to 'giter done' and I will probably just go with a cut and buff or better yet just get on the lake and fish. I have about a half a ton of woven rovin, and almost as much CSM if anyone needs any. I could use the funds for my motor!
