New Member, Love the site.
Just purchased a 1986 Sylvan Offshore 22 that will require extensive rehab.
( Full Floor, Cuddy partition, side panels, etc.)
I have acquired some excellent info from other posts on this site to help with the rehab.
I'll be sure to post pics as the project moves along.
Thanks!

image_208341.jpg image_208343.jpg image_208341.jpg image_208343.jpg Spongy floor and filthy, but has some nice extras..
Aerated bait wells, swim deck and anchor locker.
Dragged it home, degreased and acid washed the outside..

Well I have to say I'm onboard for this one! Where in NY? I'm from Orleans county NY but live in California at the moment. Nice boat I would buy it not sure what you paid but it's a project but everyone will chime in and help.

Quick before and after photos of the inside, Every piece of vinyl covered plywood was rotten.
Removed it all, Fortunately the Transom is in excellent condition.
In the process of scraping the remnants of the carpet and glue from the sides....

Our next decision is a highly debated one.... What to use for the subfloor?
Plywood, MOA, Aluminum, or possibly Aluminum honeycomb panel..
We are leaning towards an aluminum subfloor, As the finished floor will be removable mahogany panels..

Hey, those last two pics didn't show up. Since the "upgrade" the best way is to get a free photobucket account, upload there, copy the IMG link and paste that directly into the text of your post.

When I cored my transom (in about 7 to 10 places - high, low, side to side, top and bottom, around bolt holes) the shavings from the bit were a little like damp oat meal. Some black, some dark brown, some light brown - but all wet. Any water penetration essentially means you're on the road to future failure. If you're doing a ton of work it's probably best to start with a fresh core on what should be the strongest part of the boat.

Where were the exact location of these drilled core samples? Hopefully they were down low around the transom drain tube and outward from there.

Correct, within 2" (as close as I could get) of the outdrive protrusion thru the hull.
bottom, sides, and top.
