So I bought this bass boat and motor in late spring and have been going through checking, fixing, and upgradiing stuff. I have several posts up about it. The latest thing I found is making me wonder if the electrical issues are related. Latest thing is the buzzer in the remote control does not work. While troubleshooting it I discovered that the buzzer works but the little diode on the power side of the connection is blown. Well to make a long story short, the rectifier is fried, the tach doesn't work and the trim sender seems fried also (cannot get ohms reading across any 2 wires). So I wonder if they are all related, say to a reverse battery hookup that maybe happened with the previous owner? Does anybody have similar experience? Tried to get replacement diode at radio shack but they knew less than me about the diode. Does anybody know what rating the diode is and where to get replacement?

Thanks

Persistance pays off...found 2 issues under the helm that cleared up most of my problems. Poor ground and open circuit of ignition power leads that were spliced. Those little blue splices are not reliable. I removed all of them! I figured out these problems when I realized the gages were not illuminating with ignition key on (hard to tell in daylight until I removed the bulbs from the back of a gage!) One interesting thing I have not figured out is now my trim gage works and I was sure I checked ohms resistance correctly on the sender...per another forumn message...maybe the circuit needs power to work or something. On the buzzer I was applying the voltage in the wrong direction and the diode was working! I thought I tested it both ways. Just goes to show with electrical stuff... if you are not trained or lucky or gifted... triple check that you are testing things right. Last issue is tach. I do think the rectifier is fried as I did the test exactly like the manual states in terms of polarity. But now I plan to go start the motor on muffs and confirm before I install new one.
