My Merc Mariner 75hp 3 cyl. outboard lost throttle response one day and I saw the throttle rod (red) had come unattached from the cam (yellow) and was hanging loose. I reattached it to the cam and I regained throttle response. It happened again 2 days later and this time the rod came completely off and it now lives at the bottom of the lake. I ordered and replaced a new rod and two new bushings that hold it in place but I still get no throttle response. I can get power from the engine and normal operation if I pull up on the carb linkage (blue) but my forward throttle control at the helm gives me barely headway power. My question is does that cam attach via a missing linkage of some kind to the carb? I would love to see some shots of operational Mariners of similar vintage to see if I am missing something somewhere. Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers.
