I can't see the photos. A message comes up saying they are working to fix the problem....

Can you post them elsewhere, or if others can see the photos, what is left of the driveshaft?

Were you able to view the picture s . I sent them to your inbox. I can email them to you if you want. I've tried a slide hammer to no good.

I drilled a hole through the side of the shaft then pushed a u bolt through the hole. I then drilled a hole through a piece of flat metal i had, bolted that metal onto the u bolt. Then attached the slide hammer to that. That didn't work so i also added a 35 lb plate that goes to a weight bench using the weight as the slide. It made a heck of a noise, but it still didn't budge

I can only see one picture of a cut off driveshaft going to powerhead, without any holes, etc..

Your slide hammer system/connection must not have ANY give/flex to it. You should be hammering in BOTH directions if it's stubborn, just more in the getting it out direction.

Put motor upside down and pour in your favorite penetrating oil and keep working it. Kroil is what gets used here. You can use a 50/50 mix of acetone and auto tranny fluid. Pb blaster is decent.

You need to use a fair amount to elevate the fluid to a height that covers the connection.

As you found out, patience and small increments are needed when tapping. Having done so many, I can feel the tool flexing and know it's limits.

Have you tried putting the motor upside down?

hi. thanks for replying. no, we haven't tried to turn it over yet. im thinking my next step is to pull the head assembly and the shaft should come with it right? then I can get a good soak in penetrating fluid. as it is right now it is still on the boat and just spraying the fluid up the shaft tube is non effective. it is a heavy motor so I wasn't sure about pulling the entire motor assembly from the boat. was hoping that pulling the head would give me better results, but I don't know . im new at this and I trust the opinions on here better than my own guesses.

So how do I go about turning this beast over? Will it hurt the carbs by turning it over? Can I stand that thing on its flywheel without damaging anything?
