Check fuel tank vent, make sure it isn't plugged. Check anti-syphon valve which is located at the fuel line fitting where it connects to the top of your tank.

When you changed the fuel filter, did you dump the contents into a clear container to see if it was clean fuel or contaminated fuel?

You can take the fuel cap off to see if that helps.

It sounds more like a lower shift cable with what you describe.

Didn't check content when i changed fuel filter . Previous owner change fueling hose the bigon2e and wasn't conected wright at fuel tank it was leaking fuel i fix that but i can still smell fuel after wee come from lake and the water that comes in the back small plug got rainbow color in it is that mean that i maybe have a fuel leak somewhere.

i tried took gas cap off but it was same thing it was stalling

when I was home i adjust cable a little bit i was able to shift foward and reverse it was fine but when i went to a lake i could not put in reverse. Cabel is worn out no room to adjust need new one but no clue what kind thanks

Hi Dinoduh30, I recently had a very similar issue with my '94 Sea Ray 170 3.0L Mercruiser. After running at cruising speed 5-10 minutes it would begin to stall out and sometimes die. But would start back up and idle okay. Limp back to the dock, etc. Turned out the original fuel pump had decided to give up the good fight . About $100 later I was back in business. Now will run all day, no problems. I have probably 12 hours on the boat since the repair, water skiing & tubing.

Verify that. Pull the line off the carburetor and stick in a bottle. Crank motor and see if fuel comes out. I hate seeing parts thrown at it.

Ill definitely do that. You said " pull line of the carburetor " that line will come out of carburetor if you could be more specific sorry new to this thanks.

You should have a solid metal line from the fuel pump to the carb. Unscrew the fitting at the carb.

I definitely agree with Rick Stephens about "swapnostics" being a poor substitute for a proper diagnosis, however, after screwing around with figuring out if the siphon valve was blocked, rigging rubber hoses and such I decided to take the drastic step of actually throwing money at the problem. Apparently it cost more than I remembered. Maybe the $100 was the price the Admiral got.....Looks like I used this pump:

Do be careful with the steel fuel pipe, you should have tubing wrenches for this job, if at all possible.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... The lower shift cable is much more apt to be the problem, than the forward shift cable,.....

I think i adjusted wrong cable i was not supposed to mess with that lower unit cable. So could that be a problem for engine to stall on me . On the picture i adjust bottom one .
i am working on wright now and i removed metal hose fro carburetor to check if fuel pump is pumping fuel it dose pump but not shure how much or fast need to come out when i crank it Screenshot_2018-08-11-19-20-53.pngScreenshot_2018-08-12-12-13-51.png
