1987 2.3 omc cobra runs hot at higher rpm

is there a thermostat in the outdrive, it seems as if exhaust is coming from bellows when it is actually coming from lower front section of lower unit. a small amt of cool water comes out of prop.<br />please help <br />--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

murph, no thermostat in drive .have you checked/changed the impeller? some more history will help us
