merc v6's are legendary! theyre easy to work on, parts are readily available, and they made the same design from the late seventies up through the mid 90's

id check that 150 psi compression . is that YOUR readings, or the SELLERS readings?

usually in their best shape, you usually only see numbers around 130psi. anything above 140 and you need really good gas.

id check it with your own guage, and if it really says that, id check it with another guage, then if it REALLy is 150 psi, your gonna have some troubles. get some octane booster :)

you really cant lose with a merc v6.

is it a 2.4L or a 2.5L
is it a bridgeport? if it is, can i have it?

These are great engines ..... phatmanmike .. why do you say he will have some troubles if the compression really is 150psi? and to get a octane booster? I thought the more compression the better, can you explain your theory behind this please? I find this very interesting, and is a subject i'm not all familiar with ....

My compression on my 150 runs 120 all the way across, Mike is just saying that if the compression is that high [150], there has likely been some work done on the heads and he will have to use a higher octane to keep from burning a piston.

Oh yea, my ProMax laughs at me if I reach for anything less than 92 octane.:'(
