After about one hour out my motor kills. If I choke the engine it will fire for about 3 seconds. I change the plugs but it still won't start until it cools down. I mix the gas 50:1 even though the decal on the side is 100:1. Mechanics have told me that the decal is a mistake and have seen many Johnsons like this one blown up over this decal. In Minnesota the lead time to get this into a repair shop right know is about 6 weeks because of the backlog. I also would like to know what the air mixture should be set at (the knob on the front of the carb). This was a used engine and I did not receive a manual.

Does the primer ball get firm? Does it start when you spray WD40 into the carb?
If so, pull the filter and clean it. Pull the
carb off and clean it, paying close attention to the pickup tube and idle jet nozzle.
That should cure the problem.
If not, let us know.
