That boat looks to be in pretty good shape and for that price well worth it. I'd say good job now go and get it - if every is as good as it looks and runs great? And seller with nothing to hide would be more than willing to take you for a test ride ad I'm sure he can see you are interested and not just tire kicking.

It looks a lot like ours and ours has basically the same set up and motor. We absolutely love our boat and it fits our every need.

Good luck.

To answer your question about the transom, if you use the butt end of a hammer lightly tap all around the transom and listen for any difference or thud dull sounds, indicating wet wood. Don't go pissing the guy off or anything by beating it. It can be done by using the hand but its harder to tell this way.

Here is a link to when we bought ours at the beginning of the season. There is a few pics for you to see it.

This boat I've had up to 55 on gps with only one other adult in the boat and calm conditions on the water. We cruise about 30-35 all day and can pull an average adult on skis or tube with ease around that same range. It all depends on load, conditions and prop.

I am going Sat to see the boat I talked to him today and asked him how fast the boat will go, hesaid 38 to 40 is the fastest he has gotten it to go, this was with 4 adults and a loaded boat, coolers and stuff .He said he thinks its got a prop that is good out of hole not for top end. It just doesnt sound rite to me, it seems to slow. I cant believe hes never been on the boat by himself in the 10 years hes owned and opened it up. This boat has 5.7 mer 260 hp some thing just doesnt sound rite. What do you think

The prop will have an effect on speed and it will change the rpm. There is a whole science about it and iboats has a description page somewhere. That's not a bad thing though as you can always change the prop later in the get more top end. 38 - 40? was that red line or cruising? I'm going to bet it is because of the prop anyway. We have the exact motor with a 4 brl carb. I'll check the prop tomorrow for you and let you know.

55 on GPS? I have to call that. I have the same boat, albiet with the 230, and I top out at 39. This is with a 17p prop turning 4500RPM...I dont see an extra 30HP adding 16MPH...not on water.

38-40 sounds about right to me. These are heavy, well built boats. But what was WOT RPM? That will tell the whole story.

Call it what you want duped. The 230 is not the same as the 260. I just love when people think they know everything about everything and everyones situation. Next time ill take a pic for you and pm you. It might be next spring though as I'm already winterized. Anyways, I don't want this to turn into an argument then this will be closed and op will be the one missing out.

I know I'm going to get yelled at for this but I was pushing 5k rpm, and I'm no fan of pushing the envelope like that but its like buying a new sports car, you just have to see. I am running a 19 aluminium prop, we were under a half tank of gas, with just safety equip and nothing else but me and wife and combined we are about 300 lbs. We also removed all those heavy compartments under the sun deck. What a waste those are. The motor was just recently rebuilt as well. Empty our boat comes in at the 3200lbs range (I've subtracted the trailer already). The gps was is a brand new humminbird 385. So if that was wrong, I have no control and our speedo at the time was not working.

WOT RPM should be 4200-4600 RPM

I don't "think I know everything", but I had to mention something in the interest of the original poster, so he doesn't have "results not typical" expectations of his boat. DRY weight according to Sea Ray themselves is 3420, and that's with the 4.3 V6. With fuel, persons and gear, and the 260 you are easily coming up on 4000lbs. And although they are different engines, comparing the 230 and 260 is not like comparing big block to small block. Guess you'll have to show me something.

I wasn't going to reply to you duped but the more I thought about it over the day, the more and more I became p--d off about being called a lier and lets face it, that's pretty much what your doing. I do agree that my results are not typical. Then again my sea ray is not the typical standard sea ray in that brochure you are looking at either nor is my 260 the same 260 that rolled off the factory line either. To say your calling me out on my result is b.s. and very rude in your end. You know absolutely nothing about my boat set up. Open your mind and eyes up the world beyond "bone stock". My comments were to a question of what can it do, and that's what mine did. Believe it or not whatever that's your call. To op, pm me any time because Im done with this persons b.s. Good luck to you duped and most of all to you op.

He wanted an idea of what his STOCK boat SHOULD do, from his words. If your boat has been worked over enough to hit 55 it would have been best if you mentioned that before, especially to him, because he just isnt going to see those numbers. Just for the sake of clarity.

REGARDLESS I apologize if I came off as rude. I truly do. You are correct, I know nothing of your boat set up, and my post was arrogant.
