Gentleman,
I just bought a 1987 225 Johnson VRO V6 outboard for $650 bucks off Craigslist. Seeing as though I am going to have a ton of Johnson-specific questions, I thought I would start a thread here and ask you guys to help me out.
I am rebuilding a 21? Pro Line CC and already have a thread going over in the restoration forum if you care to check it out. . . http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=271114.
Anyway, the motor is a TX series (E200TX0UC), serial number G1446907.
First Question
The motor did not come with a control box. How do I start the thing without buying a control box? The guy I bought it from was a marine mechanic and he started it using what looked like the plug from a control box that had a key switch direct wired to plug. He plugged his rigged plug into the plug from the wiring harness under the outboard cover and started the motor right up.
Any thoughts?
Regards!
James
