Hi all - New to boating, so forgive my simple questions

I recently purchased a 1987 2757 Montego, twin Alpha 180?s. She?s in great shape, having been stored up for the last few years, now just needing some TLC. I had her tuned and prepped, and she?s been in the water this summer, now I need help in understanding some of the basic operations of the boat.

Head ? While filling the gas tanks, I attempted to get the head vacuumed but no draw occurred. I know the head holding tank was empty while the boat was being stored . The head was since utilized and I know the holding tank was at least ? full. Perhaps during storage, something was closed that does not allow me to draw off the waste?? Also, please tell me why there is a shut off valve leading to an alternative exit port immediately prior to the waste exit port on the starboard side. Is this a vent port? Is there another vent somewhere that I need to open?

Camper top ? She has a full camper top, and I was wondering how or if this can be converted to a bimini top?

Water heater ? do they normally bypass the water heater while the boat is kept in storage? I am wondering if I should re hook this heater up to see if it works?

Re: 1987 2757 Montego

Edodesu: hello and welcome to iBoats!! I used to have an 88 2757, so maybe I can help some... The head issue; we only had one pumpout location (midship starb side) and usually held the head flush lever open during pumpout to speed the process. Don't believe there are any valves on there tho.

Camper top: ours had panels onthe side that zipped out leaving only a 'bimini top' which ran from the top of the windshield to just behind the bridge seats.

Water heater: yes, it is typically bypassed during winterization as filling it with anti freeze would be a little expensive, and unnecessary. I would hook it back up, be sure it's full and test it if it were mine.

Sure hope you enjoy that boat as much as we did ours. Fabulous boat for it's size, VERY roomy, and fun to drive too!
