My first full season with it comming up. When first firing it up, should I prime the oiling side with the primer bulb from the oil tank?

What maintaince is required for the VRO system?

I do carry some 2 stroke OB oil for emergency, but I cannot seem to find out what size tank the boat has. Posted the question on the Sylvan section, but got no reply. It's a 1988 Pro Fisherman, 16 ft.

I did find the warning horn test in the owner's manual, and the horn does work.

It doesn't matter what size the oil resevoir is. Just keep it over 1/3 full. If you are referring to the fuel tank, when it is empty, pay attention to how much you put in to fill it. If the pump ever quits and you had to add oil just check the gauge. covert the reading to gallons and add the proper amount of oil. No worries about over-doing it. The engine does't care. Just don't under-do the oil. It doesn't hurt to give the oil primer bulb a squeeze before starting but that should not be necessary. Annual cleaning of the tank and the filter sock inside is recommended.

Thanks, Silvertip. Will be getting it out of storage next month and will take your advice. Haven't looked in my OMC service manual, but the proceedure for cleaning the sock should be in there?

I don't mess around with cleaning the "sock" in the oil tank. It's a replaceable filter you can get at any BRP dlr.
