What would be the order we should go to fine tune a engine. As in Mine is now running good at idle and good at WOT but runs rough in between. Just bought the motor a couple months back and found a bad switchbox and trigger. I have replaced thoes as well as plugs. During the process of finding what was wrong I turned the idle screws on carbs and think I have that screwed up. It ran good the first day or two when I bought it from idle to WOT with no hesitation until the switch box went out from shorted wires on the trigger. I tried to adjust carbs yesterday without much luck. Started at 1 1/2 rounds out and worked from bottom carb to top turning in until stumble and then back out until smooth idle. I have been reading that the timing will need to be set after a trigger replacement and trying to learn how to do that right now. Im just no sure what order I need to be going in as in timing, carb adjustment, link and sink ?

This should all be done by the book or you will be chasing your tale for a long time.First thing I would buy for your boat is a OEM manual. If you cant find one then you might have to settle for a non OEM manual like Seloc etc.The procedure for my V6 is 3 pages long very precise....fractions of MM/inches involved to make your motor run smooth.
Post serial # and you might be directed to your correct manual.

S/n 0B175091 and I could not agree more. I passed on the seloc because have heard their are some miss prints as well as not detailed instructions. For a shade tree mechanic like me I need all the correct help I can get. I got a timing light today and plan to get a dial indicator tomorrow. I just figured out how the timing pointer has to be set before you set timing. Man thats a lot different than a car but with the correct info and a little help from you guys I think I can do it.
