1987 85hp having running issues , checked everything and down to fuel, went into carbs and they look ok but one was stopped up. The motor has three different carbs on it starting at the top it has a WE 9-2, the middle is a WB 100c, and the bottom WE 9-1.
I understand they did this on some motors but i am wondering if this middle carb belongs, it is total different looking the low speed adustment is on the side instead of on top front. The needle and seat are a rubber tipped needle with solid seat. The others are solid needle rubber seat. The motor was high idle and lean sneezing and would not run at high speed. Could someone please help me out and let me know i have the right carbs to make the motor run right before i rebuild and put them back on. I dont see this wb 100c carb listed anywhere on these year model motors.

A little research shows that a 100C was fitted to a 1993 Force - that model used 100C for the middle and lower cylinders and a 101C for the upper cylinder.

It does sound as though someone may have replaced it at some point.

Post your model number for more info

Typically, the 85hp for that year are showing a WE 9-2 for middle and bottom and WE 9-1 for top

In this case, the 9-2 indicates a double ended fuel fitting and the 9-1 indicates a single ended fuel fitting. Typically, on earlier Force engines, the two lower carbs will have the same number and the upper carb will have a different suffix. When you get to carbs without choke plates, then the numbers are different because the middle carb has a different bowl.

SO: someone has changed the fuel fitting. That is the only difference. P.O. must have destroyed a carb and replaced it with whatever was on hand. You can stay with the 100-C in the middle. It should not cause any problems. Me? Mr. Monk is my mentor so I absolutely need to have all three carbs the same model--nothing to do with performance and everything to do with looks.
