Could this be the tilt switch itself? (dash mounted) The "up" relay? Something else? Poltergeists?

Thanks in advance guys,

Try removing the up relay and see if it raises up on it own. How slowly are we talkin'? Do you mean you can watch it go up and it's going slowly or it does it overnight?

Very slowly, I heard the motor more than I saw it moving. It may take a few minutes to tilt up.

Do you mean contacts in the relay? The switch?

Thanks

and otherwise works normally? Rule out poltergeist by disconnecting the battery lead. ;) Rule out switch(es) by disconnecting one of the switch leads. Or use your multimeter to check for continuity between the leads. Same with relay.

You'd think it'd be generating some heat in there somewhere - best inspect all the wires in case something got damaged.

There is a third relay in a small black box inside the boat's console (new to me) does this also control the tilt or is for another purpose?

Thanks,

We can speculate for days on what might or might not be related to your problem, but until you do some troubleshooting, we'll never know.

When you disconnect the switch, does it continue to raise?
