Is the above motor oil injected or pre-mix? Any known issues with this motor?

Thanks, FNG here. Will probably be asking many more questions coming up as I will be aquiring a new to me boat.

Thanks

from the factory it had the VRO pump. whether it is still connected i don't know. the pumps are expensive, and when they go, a lot of people replace it with a regular fuel pump and premix the oil and gas. i had an 88 that was a fantastic motor.

if you have the original pump, i would cap off the oil line, and disconnect any oil alarm. those original pumps were known for failure on the oil side. you can premix, and use just the fuel side. or you can go with the straight fuel pump of the 88spl, and premix. or you can upgrade to the VRO2 mixing pump.
