1987 alpha 1 outdrive no reverse

hello again i have just came across a new problem no reverse i have tried disconnecting the cable and engaging it manually it locks in forward but nothing for reverse acts like its stil in neutral i have tried adjusting the cable in and out but stil nothing is there any way to check this wtih out removing the outdrive ? thanks

I dont think so, the only option may be to remove the sterndrive. I may be wrong but i just dont think you will have the room to really get a good look at it. It sounds like there is an internal problem like something in the linkage is broken and not allowing the gears to ingage. Good luck to you.
