What is funny about my new 1987 bayliner build is that I previously owned the same version about four years ago. The only difference was it was a 1984 trophy. So at least I have a little knowledge of the ins and outs of this vessel.

Me and a friend of mine picked up this new project from his father of all people. We got a real good deal on it and decided to make it into a cool little project. We live in San diego so there is boating and fishing virtually year round.

I have already posted a ton of questions but thought Id start posting some pics so i can log the whole process. Thanks to everyone at I boats for all your help. This weekend i was able to get the 1995 merc 90 mounted and started running all my wires and control cables.

I will keep updated with post and pictures on my progress if anyone is interested. and believe me there will be just as many questions to go along . Ive owned a few boats but always learning and i appreciate all the help.

thanks guys...chris

Re: 1987 Bayliner Trophy Build

Hi, I just yesterday purchased your boats older but smaller brother... It is a 1984 and I cannot figure out what the model number is.... it just says Bayliner Trophy... the hull measures about 17 ft,... and at this point I am convinced that it is not a 1910... but the 1710's are bass boats... I noticed that you have been doing some work on yours, and while mine is in okay shape, I thought you may have run across some Info... My Hull # is BLOB34FC1084..

Have you found a source for Cleats that matches the existing bolt holes?... mine are about to fall off, but the ones at the store are just a little bit different....

Cheers, and thanks... and good luck with your rebuild/

They did make a 1703 CC in later years but not in 1984. Could it be someone modified it at some point?

IF this boat was modified, it was done by a master... there is not a bead of caulk or filled holes anywhere on the inside of the cockpit. The outside has a little wear, but the tub inside is near perfect for a 25 year old.

I found some registration papers from years gone by, and a previous owner registered it as a 19Ft.... but I just cannot stretch my tape that far.... it is defiinetly a 17' hull + 3 or 4 inches. I will try to post a picture at some point.

I just sold the identical boat, I had picked it up at an estate sale. It was in running condition with a decent hull but not mint by far.
They were the decent looking boats even though they were Bayliner. Although I thought they rode a bit hard due to the shallow V hull design.
I have a neighbor that has one too, but I think his issues with water logged foam, the tires have about 50 psi in them but they still look flat. The boat weighed in at over 4200 lbs on the trailer, almost double it's original weight. Its a shame since the cosmetically it still looks good. I can only imagine the condition of the transom and stringers as well.

Hey, How are you making out on your project?... I was wondering if you might be able to help me identify my boat by taking a measurement for me?... Would it be possible for you to measure your Hull at the rub rail so I can compare .... I could really use the support because my capacity plate is missing and I need some good information to work with before I approach the coast guard for help./... thanks Chris
