1987 brand new powerhead, now what?? some questions

i am purchasing a brand new old stock 1987, 9.9/15 hp powerhead. it is still in the crate, in plastic, with tags. is this still under warrenty? how do i find out if it has been registered?

how do i breakin a 2 stroke? first brand new motor so, i know to run it at 24-1 and barrel test for a hour, then retorqure the head and water jacket.
but then what? idle/troll around for 8 hours??

i drove 3 hours, for this. also ended up getting some omc parts too. 500 for the power head, it had a perfect 130/130 and spins smooth as silk. ended up dropping a few more $$ on, 12 coils, 4 springs, 2 stats, powerhead gasket, 2 pumps 4 impellers, 4 handles. the guy had a pallet of parts all new. wow if i had more $$ i would have bought all the stock. he said that he had almost 7k in parts. wow some people have all the luck.
seller did have another powerhead, but, it seemed seized. too bad really. told him to get some marvel mysterey oil.

would you have done the same? i mean drop 500 for a new power head?
