Hi, I have a 70HP evinrude.. just rebuilt with wiesco pistons, bored .30 over, new bearings etc etc... I was out today, and after about 1hr of running, I lost my top end.. it started cutting out.. then totally gone. The most rpm I could get is 4100... usually goes to 5500rpm with a 21pitch prop doing 45mph... what gives.. fuel consumption was gastly after she lost the top end.. i am thinking either dirt in the carb, or the powerpack, or coils...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Go back to the basics, Fuel, Compression, and Spark. Compression is where I'd start

5500 is way low on that motor. Work with the set up -- after its broke in -- to get as close to 6000 as you can.
