I accidentally arced across two wires.....right above/beside the top coil there is a little square thing(what is it?) that has 4 connectors on it. I accidentally arced ground to the red wire on top. Now the key wont turn the motor over nor will it engage the electric choke. I still have over 12 v running up the red wire thats connected to the B terminal on the rear of the switch. if i jump 12 v to the yellow wire on S terminal the motor will crank....if i turn key nothing happens....Its a bad ignition switch right?

That little black thing is your rectifier. If you grounded the red wire, you either popped your circuit breaker or blew a fuse. If you have a circuit breaker, it should be on the left side of t he engine behind the starter. If it is the resetable type, there is a button on the top that you push to reset it.

Re: 1987 force 50 ignition switch question

the breaker flipped and i fixed it. When the breaker is kicked there is no power sent to the ignition switch. After i fixed the breaker i have power all way back to the ignition on the red wire. There is only one hot wire at the ignition switch right?

That is correct. Your ignition switch is probably faulty.
