Hi, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a 1987 Force 85HP outboard that started fine at home, started fine at lake, then yesterday it would not start.
When you go to turn the key nothing happens, the Key is just dead.
We check so make sure the started is good by just touching it with the jumper cables and it kicks the motor over,
Battery is good, and connections are good. the control is the one with just the two red cables running to it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.

Make sure the neutral safety switch is working properly. Make sure the throttle handle is position in the neutral position. The neutral safety switch is mounted just below the throttle cam on the bottom carburetor and has two yellow wires going to it. It has a little white button on the bottom side that is pushed in when the throttle handle is in the neutral position.
