I have a leak that I cant figure out after I reinstalled the power head on a 1987 50 hp. I don't want to pull it again if someone has some advise. It's leaking just behind the bottom left corner of the exhaust box. I pulled the exhaust box back off and used 847 on all gaskets but no joy. I'm pulling my hair out. I attached a picture of where it';s coming out while running. It pumps good water and runs good.

No Title

Found the problem. The wrong upper base to adapter plate gasket was shipped to me. If you look at the picture I was shipped the gasket with the round hole for the water pickup. I needed the oval gasket. I had some gaskets left over from another rebuild that were not used. The round style let water leak out. Got to love force.

Good you found it out yourself.

I was in order to suggest you to disassemble the exhaust cover again and check the gasket to the surface.
The surface of walls for the water jackets are so narrow and if the gasket do not align perfect, it will leak.

Thanks for the reply. Ya that was the first thing that I checked. I reassembled the exhaust cover with scotch weld 847 on both gaskets. Unfortunately is was not the problem. All good now though with the correct top base gasket.

Glad it's fixed.
Nothing that a little bit of duct tape and super glue can't fix!! :)

The Force 87/50 they made 15 different models????

Yes 15 different 50hp in 1987. I would say some part overlap. The old gasket came off in many pieces so I could not compare it. Runs great now.
