Honestly, how many beers had you had prior to running that truck into the pit at a 45 degree angle?

Boat is looking good.

I had 0 beers, thats a sober move:eek:! I new I had to drive over it, I have had to do it a dozen times, it sits in an odd place on the floor. You would think it would be centered in the path of the door way but its off set and because of that its hard to miss. I guess the cap was just to old to hold weight anymore!

I dont drink while working on the boat, I wait till after to reward my self for a job well done.:D

Lets figure this out::confused:

Good Idea: Rewarding ones self for a job well done

Smart Idea: Not drink while working

Or

Good Idea: Using over head gantry to lift truck

Smart move: Using oak to support truck over the pit

Or

Good Idea: Not drinking and driving

Smart move: Way to drop your truck in the pit stupid, maybe you should have been drinking, you may have missed it!:D:D

Re: 1987 Four Winns 215 Sundowner Refit/Repower

well i forgot to get photos of my work today so I will have to take them tomorrow and post them tomorrow night.

But I got the helm all assembled and installed the new rotary steering system and i must say it works great, so much smoother then the old rack and pinion system.

I also lifted the engine so I could install the new spring lock washers and leather spacers on the rear mount. Since I had the engine up I painted the bilge, inside of the transom and the surrounding deck. The area I painted will be the engine compartment, I am going to put in a straight bench seat in the back that will sit in front of the engine and put a sun deck over it. No more dog house, I hated how cramped it made the engine compartment.

Well today was a wast!!!! I was planing on painting the bottom of the boat, but is so humid from this rain that the concrete floor of the barn is sweating and keeping the bottom of the boat really wet!

I did get the trim pump in and some wiring done through and a second coat of paint on the bilge. I guess next weekend will just be double tine!

But hear are the photos of what I got done last night and today.

The dash all hooked up

Re: 1987 Four Winns 215 Sundowner Refit/Repower

I got a bunch done today...I finished a bunch of wiring done. I installed new switches, that have indicator LEDs in them. I got all the lights wired, the horn, blower and trim pump wired to. I got a new battery and case in today also.

Once I was done with my wiring I sanded the bottom of the boat and painted it also. I had to paint more of the bottom black then I originally wanted due to a mistake on my part. I damaged the white paint on the bow above the water line and didnt have any more white, so i brought the black up higher to cover it.

The new switches

The battery and blower

The new horn

The bottom paint

I have used all Rustolium paint on the boat and am very impressed with it...bottom and top side paint. Cheap too.

I was able to get the rear side panels built today and the bench. I also got the sun deck mocked up. I need to make a trip to the hardware store to get mounting hard ware for the sun deck through. I also got the door frame done for the cabin. I am going to finish the side panel and get the hardware in so I can seal the wood. Then i will need to button up some stuff and install carpet and cushions and all that fun stuff.

Does anyone know of a place that sells cushion foam at a good price? I have found a couple place that are ok prices but I would like to find a better deal.

I was thinking 2" for the seats and 1/4" for the side panels and other peices of wood that will need covered.

Re: 1987 Four Winns 215 Sundowner Refit/Repower

i used foam from an old slide in camper to build my last boat and it just so happens the other day the wind picked up my buddys slide in camper and tosed it on the gound. so i will be getting the foam out of it for the seats on my new project.:D i have heard of people using couches and baby matresses. just make sure you put a few holes in the plywood to alow the air to escape. if you dont you will end up with long lasting but imprints.:( and what ever water makes its way threw the vynil will get out there also;)

just a question about the foam for the side panels what about that hypoalergenic foam carpet padding for the pannels it does not alow moisture to penitrate the surface that was my thinkg for my side panels 2 layers of this stuff. super durable and firm:D

The issue there is I dont have anything I can steel the foam from....I was thinking about poly foam Its got a good price, I just am unsure on how firm it will be.

The wake tower is made by DIY Wake, I ordered it online and they shipped it to me. They offer free shipping on all their products over $100. I orded it on Thursday night and it showed up on Tuesday so its fast free shipping even with it coming from California to Ohio.
