I have an 87 Johnson 140. It started out of the blue to want to idle low and stall. VRO disconnected, 125-127 psi compression for all 4 cylinders, wot cranking timing set to 20 degrees. The carbs are so clean they look new inside and out. On the throttle lever on the engine there are 2 stops. Full stop and full throttle. The full stop screwed all the way in. I was out saturday and the motor ran great but was smoking a bunch on low cruise but it ran great. Took it out sunday no smoke at all and didn't want to idle right. It would indle at 900 for a few minutes then it would just cut off. Then it was real hard to start. It would start and die. Once running it ran great. It just seemed to idle too low. How do I adjust the idle, nothing I do seems to make a difference. I tried adjusting the cable.
