Hello, was wondering if anyone new what the points, dwell and timing is suppose to be on a 1987 165 (224) inline 4

dwell angle 31-34 degrees
timing 6 degrees BTDC at idle 650-700 rpm
plugs AC MR 43T .035"

Hate to say this Jim, but those numbers don't come up anyplace in the service manual.
It also depends on which distributor he has.
Look at the pages below for the Delco and the Prestolite distributors and their specs.
