Engine is a 1987, serial number 0B651656.

I'm wiring up my dash and am now questioning my notes/diagram from when I took it apart last year. The canon plug on the engine has a BRN/WHT wire on the engine side and a BRN wire on the boat harness side - I can't figure out where that BRN wire goes to under the dash. On the engine harness side, the BRN/WHT wire runs to a small component mounted just above the fuel/water separator (see picture below). The other side of this component has a black wire that runs into the harness and also has a ring terminal with the wire ripped out of it (pointing down in the pic).

So my questions are:

1 - what does the BRN wire under the dash go to?
2 - what does the BLK wire on the other side of the component in the picture go to?
3 - what else should be connected to the component in the picture (ie - what wire was ripped off of the second ring terminal)?

Water temp sender is tan...this wire on the boat harness side is a darker brown (tan wire is already in there and connected correctly).

It makes sense it would be related to trim, now. When I got the boat the trim sender was run with a red wire outside the harness. I bet a previous owner broke the wire or something like that and just ran a new wire.

Thanks again.

Indeed, a MerCruiser '260'.
I'm wiring up my dash and am now questioning my notes/diagram from when I took it apart last year. The canon plug on the engine has a BRN/WHT wire on the engine side and a BRN wire on the boat harness side - I can't figure out where that BRN wire goes to under the dash. That component is called a 'terminal block'.
The other side of this component has a black wire that runs into the harness and also has a ring terminal with the wire ripped out of it (pointing down in the pic).
It connects to the trim sender (your wiring diagram below, you're welcome).
So my questions are:
1 - what does the BRN wire under the dash go to?
Trim gauge.
2 - what does the BLK wire on the other side of the component in the picture go to?
Trim sender.
3 - what else should be connected to the component in the picture (ie - what wire was ripped off of the second ring terminal)?
The other wire from the trim sender.

Wiring diagrams.
