I have an '87 Four Winns with a Mercruiser 4cyl 165HP motor. The motor turns over but I am not getting a spark from the ignition coil. I tested the coil and I'm getting 12V to the + side but no spark from the ignition coil plug wire.
I have 3 wires going to the - side of the ignition coil.
GRAY - tachometer
BLACK - goes to distributor (connects internally to a condenser coil)
WHITE - goes to some type of switch on the other side of the engine. Safety mechanism? (this should have no effect on whether the coil sparks)
I have 2 wires going to the + side of the ignition coil.
YELLOW \ RED - goes to slave solenoid
PURPLE - goes to choke
It seems like I've tried everything, this ignition system seems very simple but I have to be overlooking something. Any suggestions?
