I have an 87 Mercury 35 hp outboard and it ran strong then my last outing it died at full throttle. Thank God for trolling motors! But I’ve replaced the needle valve with a kit and it started to spray gas out of the float cap and poor out of the mouth of the carb. I have no clue what to do to stop this or get the motor to run for more than 5 seconds??????? Next huge problem is most carb parts can’t be found.

Serial # of your motor?----Your local dealer would have all the parts.

Serial# 0B369246 and even Bass Pro can’t get the parts. So I’ve also been searching for a newer carb that would work on my motor.

Gas leakage means the inlet needle or float is bad or not adjusted properly.

Replace the float, inlet needle and seat plus all gaskets, after cleaning the carb completely. Make sure float is adjusted to factor spec.

Carb kits should be widely available. Try crowleymarine or any Sierra Dealer.
