First time boat owner and I have spent a lot of time trying to diagnose the issues with my outboard. First thing I noticed is that the starboard bank is not getting any spark so with my limited knowledge I went out a replaced both switch boxes. This did not fix the issue so I went through and tested all the wires going to the switch boxes and got correct readings from the stator wires. Eventually I ended up just switching the wires between the two switch boxes until the spark switch sides. Nothing changed until I switch the stator wires which I found weird since I got good readings from those both sets of stator wires when cranking the engine. At this point I decided to just take the stator off and try to run some tests on it so I don't end up paying for more parts that are already functioning. Also possible I am missing something and it's not the stator, I am still unsure on the trigger but that side that got spark did not change when I switch the wires coming from the trigger. I would appreciate any advice on testing the stator which I have just taken out, or anything else that I should look for. Thank you in advance for any help.

A Factory service manual might be the way to go. Although the ADI ign systems on the V6 engines are common from 1978 to the late 90's, the charging systems changed a couple of times, as did the stators.

CDI Electronics might have a troubleshooting guide for your ign system Make sure it is for your year as stuff changed in the first years of the V6. Earlier models had 9A rectifier systems and later ones had 40A VR systems. After that Merc went to twin 20A VR systems. I expect the stators were different.
