OK here is what happened... My buddy had remanufactured long blocks installed into his boat... The mechanic he had build them out forgot (he did not realize until later) to install the oil pump intermediate shaft in one of them and the engines where installed into the boat (43' welcraft) and it was put back into the water and towed back to his slip for the rest of the dress out... I told him to make sure he primes the engines before he tries to start them for the first time.
He calls me yesterday and says the the oil pump intermediate shaft is not installed on the starboard engine and I tell him that the engine needs to come back out but he has been internet surfing and he has read that the shaft can be dropped in from the top.
I'm a Mopar guy so I don't know for sure... Is this possible? He needs to get the boat going ASAP because he has a lot of family coming out to be on the boat for the next 2 weeks... Any help would be great!!

While it might be metal, I'm currently rebuilding a Gen VI 454 and the one removed is a white thermo plastic. It rides against a place so its like a bearing/bushing

Do you think that being it is metal it might make it not possible to drop in from the top? I have a oil pump priming tool to get it aligned onto the oil pump so I done see (fingers crossed) that being an issue. And thanks for the help!!

Metal or plastic should be able to do it. You will know if it doesn't go all the way in, because the Dizzy won't go all the way down. The plastic one will require it to be pushed down until there is something like a snap in
