Yeah, Lake Fork is only 6 miles from me. Kind of anxious to get the boat going so I can use it on there.

Interesting thoughts on the rear design. Do you plan to keep the same colour scheme with your upholstery? I'm not that fond of the red, I am more a fan of blue/grey comibination.

Any luck in finding the pictures of the stern around the motor before you tore it apart?

Re: 1987 Sea Ray Seville floor replacement

Glenn,

I cannot find the pic's. I know I had some of the area on my puter. we did have a crash but thought we recovered everything. I got lots of files so it may be there. I will keep looking.

On color I am doing the floor and side in a very light grey. We are making new coustions out of exterior fabric rather than vinyl. The color is a gray/silver and it will be trimmed with a dark red. I have a set of seats that are 2 tone gray and that sets the color in the scheme. I really think that if all my bow coutions and side bumbers, the top of the sun deck are all in fabric and all removable, then I should be able to keep them dry in the off season and much easier to repair if damage does occur. the cost is just a little cheaper than marine vinyl but with the amount needed it a lot of $$. It is also easier to sew this fabric than the vinyl. the cousion stuffing is still the same so I could later if I wanted to just do vinyl. It's a plan and it works so far. The red and brown of the original inside I didn't like. I was actually trying to find this boat in blue. Really cool but never found one. once I got this one of course blue ones all day long. Life is funny that way.

Lake Fork thats it. Did some nice fishin up there. friend use to have a house near the lake but he moved. Life again.

My next door neighbours work for a company that does all the seats and cushions for Chili's. They told me they could do my stuff when I'm ready. Not sure about the vinyl or just exterior fabric yet. That's still down the road quite a bit.
Are you going with captain's chairs or replacing the original folddown loungers?
Jury is still out on this one for me. I want to keep the cost down as much as possible and the kids are all grown and elsewhere so I"m not quite sure how much use the boat is going to get. The ranch takes up a ton of our time right now. THAT IS GOING TO CHANGE though. We didn't buy it to just work all the time.

Golfing, boating and horse riding are our big passions.

Re: 1987 Sea Ray Seville floor replacement

Glenn,
I am going with the fold downs now mainly cause the grandkids but I want to do the captains chairs. I put a second floor layer of plywood under the top layer at the seat locations so when I make the change I have 1" of wood to mount to. The seats I got were all on sale at Acadamy. Low end but will do the job right for easy money.
My kids all grown up also. They ain't helpin with the restore but I bet a few bucks that when I am on the water they will be by to use the boat. I have 1 set of grandkids that live on lake Livigston. Those 4 are the ones pushing me to get done. They have a Pontoon boat and love fishing but they are getting old enough to ski and tube and wakeboard and stuff. I think they think it's cooler behind an 18' power boat than a pontoon so that's their motivation. The oldest one has helped with the restore and has definitly learned how to use power tools so he will get special treatment when the boats splashed for sure.

Glenn,
I found some pics of the stern mostly port side. they were in a folder called "Searay old" imagine that.

anyway first pic is view from above engine to the port seat box
IMG_2792.jpg

next is the same side box shot through the vent hole looking at upper seat back frame
IMG_2793.jpg

this is view across the back of engine at port side
IMG_2790.jpg

this is the same frame from the port side
IMG_2786.jpg

The motor mount starboard side. only pic of mounts I could find
IMG_2787.jpg

Now if you have the 4 cyl. your front mount should be on a heavy double 2x6 glass piece right behind the gas tank bulkhead.

hope these help

Re: 1987 Sea Ray Seville floor replacement

I was just looking into Arauco plywood pricing.
Around here (East Texas) Home Depot carries it in their Tyler store for $40.97 a 4x8x3/4 sheet.
Does this sound like a reasonable price?
What should a sheet of 1/2" go for?

Thanks.
Glenn.

Glenn,
Check out at Lowes 1/2" Blondewood for around $33 a 4x8. It's what I am Using. It is very light in weight, exterior grade, and cuts very well with minimal voids. since it's getting resin and glass it works well. you can see it in my pic's It's not the Arauco but it will do the job. I have had a piece of it in a bucket of water for 5 months and it has not seperated.

Blondewood sounds like an interesting alternative. I'll check the Lowes in Lindale and see if they carry it.

With it continually in the 100's I think it's going to be November or later before I get back to this......Let me see head to toe coveralls, respirator, face shield and all the pain of removing foam.....definitely wait til November or later.

Thanks.

Re: 1987 Sea Ray Seville floor replacement

Glenn,
Yep it is so hot that I am tempted to pack up this boat and head for tinkerwackeyone's shop. I really thought that this week end was gonna be a catch up week end but we woke up to 78 degrees at 6 AM. it hit 100 on the driveway by 11 am that's just too hot dag nabbit.
Anyway I use the Blondwood a lot in my cabinet building for the back and inside bottom of kitchen base cabs. Really nice stuff it's a hardwood (kinda) not pine and cuts really nice. It is very strong for it's light weight. so check it out.

Stay Cool and if ya gotta be out in it hydrate well.

Re: 1987 Sea Ray Seville floor replacement

Thanks LR. I'm going to check out the blondewood the next time I'm in Lowe's.
Let me know when you are going to tinker's shop and I'll bring my boat too.....:D:D.

I'm almost done haying now.....Ah summer in Texas....I usually wind up changing clothes three times a day because they are wringing wet with swet. I have one of those Igloo containers full of gatorade and I consume the whole thing over the day. This 100 degree plus heat and the 50% humid just beats the crap out of one. Good thing is I get great sleeps though.

My friend fixed my power steering pump for me. He mig welded it and then soldered over the top to ensure it would not leak. It was the return side so the pressure isn't as great there. I'm going to wait till I pull the engine and then I"ll reinstall it.

I sure wish the boat was seaworthy at this point as it would be nice to cruise the lake and cool off with the breeze.

Cheers.

Re: 1987 Sea Ray Seville floor replacement

Boy do I sympathize with you.
Here in East Texas its been running over 100 everyday and when you factor in the humidity it's between 110 to 115.
I'm baling hay right now and when the baler breaks down I'm out there in that. I usually wind up changing clothes three times a day because they are totally soaked with sweat.
I have an Igloo thermal container that I fill with Gatoraide and I drain it.
I still perfer the heat to the forty below zero when I lived in Canada.

Cheers.

I also have a 1987 Seville 19. The flooring is not bad but does need attention. I am thinking of making it a winter project. Did you buy a kit? If not what about using Trex or something similar to avoid rot?
