1987 Tilt/Trim woes Please Help

I had the usual tilt/trim leakdon on my 87 Froce 125hp, then I followed Clantons method and tackled the valve body. ( I got the valve body w/ snap rings on the pilot valve) anyways the job went well and Clanton is my hero. It ran fine for 2 weeks then yesterday I was tilting up and I saw a fluid slick in the water.The fuid was red and to make a long story short the pilot valve you can't see(towards stern) popped out and I lost the pilot valve and snap ring. Does anyone know or have a pilot valve and snap ring they would sell me? please help me

First let me say Thank you for replying, I appreciate your quick response.<br />There was no damage, I think I simply had a worn snap ring, but i will carefully chase the snap ring groove with a scribe type tool just to be sure. I would appreciate any help you can get me in finding a pilot valve and snap ring, the shuttle valve is still in there, thank goodness.

I close my eyes every time I put pressure on the pump with snap rings. You are on the right track, clean groove, new snap ring. I dont have any valves. I will check a shop later this week, he may have something.

Thanks alot Clanton,<br />I do hope their are others in this network of fine peeps who can help me get some spare parts.<br />I would love to use my Tilt/Trim system again.

dear ssuajk. when i first got my boat the tilt and trim didn't work. it had the same pump you have. the same thing was wrong with it and i bought the other kind used. i think i still have the old one and it has the piston and snap ring in it on the opposite side or the outward side.if they are the same i can help you out. you can e-mail me at rdante@gcnetmail.net or call me at 304-788-0597 after 6pm eastern time.my name is randy. catch you latter.
