1987 XP 200 blue paint..??

After lots and lots of searching, I was told by two Evinrude dealers that the paint for my 87 XP200 was OMC/BRP #771244.... which is the new number replacing #282924 "blue".

After painting the lower unit it's obvious that it isn't the color. Nor is it "close". It is many shades darker. It's 'ok' looking, and matches other evinrudes I've seen, but it isn't the correct color.

Does anyone know if there is a paint/color that matches the original color on these motors..?? It's not the deep dark blue that some evinrudes are... it's a shade or two 'lighter', still dark blue, and 'metallic'... pretty color. And I've lived with it for almost two decades, so I'd like to keep it as close as possible.

If OMC/BRP doesn't provide this color, I'm suspecting that the MOELLER and TEMPO paints spec'd for this motor won't match either...

Okay, so I just completed painting a 1986 Evinrude 140HP VRO. It was two tone Silver Blue and Dark XP Blue. I used urethane on the lower unit and base/clear on the lower cover and upper cover. Here are the PPG paint Codes (purchased from carpaintonline.com - they were awesome to deal with). Silver Blue is PPG 34486 and the Dark XP Blue was PPG 16537. Below is a picture of the cover. I replaced the emblems with decals since getting the right would have been more than I could deal with. See before/after shots.

BTW, there is also an Evinrude Dark Poly Blue that is PPG 16538. I got the 16537 and it's a dark metallic blue.

Can you post a pic of the dark blue on the lower unit? I have a 1991 engine and I believe it is the XP Blue.
