All of a sudden I have no spark on cylinders #1 and #3. I am awaiting delivery of my DVA adapter so I haven't checked outputs. All of the resistance readings are normal. I guess intuitively, I have trouble believing that the first half of 2 'packs' failed at the same time. Actually, one stator resistance reading was a little high, but I'm thinking that both halves of the pack would be affected, not only one half. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Re: 1988 125hp 'c' model

I Just had the VERY same thing happen to me. It was with 2 BRAND NEW CDI packs. I sent them in for replacement. (I determined the problem by switching out the new packs with an old pack, one at a time). I should have the new packs back this week.

Before I switched the packs I tried switching the trigger, even though it ohmd out okay, and I tested the stator, which tested okay. I tried switching the coil packs too. My last resort was the CDI packs.

FIRST double check your ground wires coming from each coil pack. Look for corrosion/bad connection.

Did you ever remove the wire connections from the terminal strip? Make sure all of those connections are correct.

Do you have an old pack to try?

I have 2 spares that I can only hope are good ones. I'll find out this evening. I did confirm that the coil on one of the nonfiring cylinders is good by switching to the 'good' half of the pack. I've redone just about every connection on the terminal strip. I hope this isn't a trend because
I have twins on my boat. Thanks for your input.

Well I tried the 2 packs and now there is NO spark on any cylinder. Tonight I'll double check my wiring again, but I'm sure it's correct. Any thoughts would be great.

I know this sounds stupid but....You are sure that the pack you are trying has at least 1 good half right?

If so then something must have been hook up incorrectly, especially if the other CDI pack definitely had spark on one cylinder.

Turns out that one of the spares was totally shot. Now I have spark on 3 cylinders. THe first half of the 2nd pack is no good. I was wondering where you purchased your packs and what the cost was. Also, were they CDI packs? Perhaps the 116-8301's? Thanks.
