1988 175 v6 water problems

On my motor standing behind it on the left bottom below the exhaust cover, there is a hole 1/2 inch water is squirting out i cant find anything in the cover that came out and knowone anywhere can tell me what that hole is? Im thinking a temp sensor? Any ideas thanks Model is E175STLCCM

is it the hole for the tell tale,it wouldnt be a temp sender ,they mount externally and dont touch water,are you new to this motor>is it threaded?if so ,determine what size and plug it,if its a tell tale thats missing .you can get a plastic hose barb and run a tell tale

I have been told that its possibly a temp sensor this motor has two the manual only shows right side of motor, evinrude and all marine mech have thrown there hands up. Finaly i found a parts lady that has ordered me a sensor to try it is not threaded. I just dont understand why what ever came out is not in the cowl laying around? Thanks
