I have the carb's down for cleaning and see that the main pick up tubes, 4 holes on opposite sides, have split along the line of the holes on both carb's. Does this present a problem.

had another one here within the week, but can't locate it. Tube was removed and successfully soldered.

Thanks Guys. I will try soldering after a good clean and pulling the halves together. I have rebuilt countless johnyrude carbs but I have never seen this problem. Learn something new every day.

I have successfully soldered the tubes but I am puzzled as to how this splitting has come about. I note that the color of the carb bodies is different to the bowls. Could this indicate that the bowls are not the originals. If the small pick up tube makes contact with the bottom of the bore this could cause the tube to flex and possibly cause the large tube to split. I note that without the bowl gasket the small tube does contact the bottom of the bore.
Any thoughts on this before I try reassembling.

Couldn't wait for a reply so the carbs are reassembled, very carefully, with new kits and the motor runs very well. Lake test to follow.
I would still like to know how the tubes came to be split.
